UIS strives to offer our students the best in coaching, facilities and equipment. We uphold the values of sportsmanship, fair play, self-discipline, and dedication throughout every aspect of our sports programs. Your child is encouraged to participate and is supported in the pursuit of excellence if they wish to pursue an activity at a higher level.

We aim to nurture a lifelong love of physical activity through enthusiastic participation and effort in our concept-driven, inquiry-based Physical and Health Education lessons.

Squads

At Uptown International School, we offer representative teams, groups and developmental squads in a wide range of sports and have significant numbers of students participating and competing in matches, meets, tournaments and galas. UIS is a member of the Dubai Affiliated School Sport Association (DASSA) www.dassasport.org

Sport continues to develop in curriculum lessons and inter-house and inter-school competitive competitions. We enter teams in DASSA leagues and Taaleem schools’ tournaments and events.

Sporting Pathways: Taaleem Titans

Within Taaleem, we offer a program where students attend trial sessions for selection into the elite Titans squad. Representing all ten schools, these top performers form the ‘Taaleem Titans’ teams, competing in local and international tournaments to represent Taaleem and the UAE. Currently, the program includes basketball and rugby, with plans to expand to other sports soon.

Inter-house Competitions + Sports Awards

Uptowners from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 10 showcase their sporting abilities during our annual sports days and galas. Engaging in sports boosts self-esteem and confidence in young people and fosters positive attitudes towards physical activity. Click below to read about our annual sports awards.

These inclusive events provide a fantastic opportunity for our coaches to identify potential members for the swim and athletics squads while also allowing students to discover their passion for sports and physical activity.

At the end of each year, both PYP and MYP hold the prestigious and well-attended ‘UIS Sports Awards,’ where all members of our squads, teams, and groups are invited to celebrate their respective sporting seasons with the entire community of staff, students, and parents.

In PYP, all students in our squads, teams, and groups receive ‘Certificates of Recognition,’ while in MYP, representative badges are awarded based on the number of teams each student has been part of throughout the academic year. The following awards are also presented each year:

– Most Improved Player for each squad
– Most Valuable Player for each squad
– Spirit of Uptown International School
– Outstanding Contribution to Sport
– PYP/MYP Female Athlete of the Year Award
– PYP/MYP Male Athlete of the Year Award
– Team of the Year
